Creating an Operations Centre for Strategic Communication Laboratories at DSEi.

With a ten year record of working with numerous projects for Strategic Communication Laboratories throughout the world, we were SCL's first choice when they needed a working model of one of their Opcentres (The Most Powerful Weapon in the World) for their stand at the Defence Systems & Equipment International show at ExCel in London.

Throughout the five day show, SCL ran scenarios detailing how the Opcentre would deal with a number of events as they unfolded. The Tangent 90 team created detailed high resolution graphics for each of these scenarios in a similar way to those we have created them for major motion pictures, such as in three Bond films. However, as SCL ran three different scenarios twice a day, we were in essence creating the equivalent of three films worth of content for one exhibition stand!

Nigel Oakes, CEO at SCL, was delighted with the final result, and stated that the stand had been an even greater success than they'd originally expected. The stand also won the "Best of Show" award.

The SCL stand area was an impressive 2,100 sqm (60x35m). It took five days and a crew of 31 to build, with a 21 strong team to man and operate throughout the show, plus eight SCL staff.

The Opcentre had a 12 screen media feed, a 4x3m LED presenter video wall, 62 computer screens and a large 6x4m rear projected screen. Additionally. it featured a giant 10x4m Operations Overview Screen, which ran at a resolution higher than film at 3,500 x 1050 pixels. The Tangent 90 team also centrally controlled twelve plasma screens that were arranged around the exhibition floor. These displayed movie style trailers for each of the scenarios. The stand took two days to disassemble.
