Celebrating 50 Years of Burger King

2004 marked the 50th birthday of Burger King with its first restaurant opening in Miami in 1954. To celebrate the occasion, Burger King UK commissioned a radical new look for their website.Burger King wanted to reflect the 'Americana' re-branding that was being implemented right across its worldwide chain of restaurants. Our role was to extend this theming with the introduction of an online city through which visitors could pass to navigate the site.

Updated bi-weekly with new promotions, the site also recognised user activity on the site and could automatically display current TV commercials and promotions whenever user activity stopped. Most of the site was aimed at the consumer, however it also contained substantial corporate information including detailing franchising and employment opportunities.

Several updates were initiated during the ensuing months, the first being an online Skateboarding Game called "SK8 Park". Further features included ePostcards, a 'find my nearest BK restaurant' tool, a history timelime from 1954 to the present day, a nutritional and allergies guide and a registration area to receive a BK newsletter.
